The Pancake Breakfast hosted by the KCs of SKD on March 6th collected $473 thanks to the generosity of those attending that snowy morning. After expenses the council had $350 to be sent to the Knights of Columbus Ukraine Solidarity Fund.
On Monday our council approved adding another $250 to the $350 and sent a check to Supreme in the amount of $600 for this fund. The Supreme Council had set aside $500,000 in matching funds for donations to the Ukrainian Fund. If there was some of the $500,000 still available when our check arrived, our breakfast would have resulted in $1,200 in funding being sent to provide shelter, food, medical supplies, clothing and religious goods, as well as other humanitarian needs as identified, both directly in Ukraine and through refugee sites in Poland. The Knights will work with both the Latin and Greek Catholic Churches in Ukraine, with dioceses and K of C councils in Poland, and with international humanitarian aid agencies to address needs quickly and effectively.
Thank you to all of you at St. Katharine Drexel who stayed for breakfast and helped make this donation possible.
