The Archdiocese requires that we have I00% of the construction cost covered prior to beginning
construction; with 50% in cash on hand and 50% in pledges.
This was put into place to prevent Parishes from building beyond their means and creating a financial
crisis for subsequent parishioners.
The process for building a church building is intentionally deliberate for the aforementioned reason.
It is also important to remember that we are part of the larger Church. There needs to be agreement between our local parish family and our Archdiocesan community.
We are currently renting 11,022 square feet of space. The proposed concept has a footprint of 15536 square feet. Because the concept is designed specifically for our use, the space will be much more effectively utilized.
The goal for the current concept drawing is $5 million.
While we don’t anticipate this happening, we want to ensure everyone that these are dedicated funds per the IRS and can only be used for the building. Neither the Archdiocese or the parish can take any funds donated for an explicit fund and re-purpose them.
Therefore, any unused funds donated to the building fund would be returned to the donors if the Archdiocese doesn’t allow us to
build.
We are in Phase I of our building project. The proposed facility allows for future build out of a permanent worship space. The current plan does allow for a more flexible gathering space and class rooms. In addition, the gathering space can accommodate the higher demand during Christmas and Easter.
