Senator Abeler urgently needs to hear from constituents urging him/her to support legislation allowing non-citizen immigrants who are on the road to obtain a driver’s license requiring them to learn the rules of the road, pass a test, and provide identification before driving on Minnesota roads. Our nation’s broken immigration system can only be fixed on the federal level. In the meantime, our state needs to promote road safety and enable our immigrant brothers and sisters to live in dignity and not in fear of family separation for driving without a license.
